Who we help

Built for the self-employed, open to everyone

Most of my clients work for themselves. If you're paying too much for health insurance, I can help you too.

1099 business owners

Freelancers, contractors, realtors and sole proprietors who need their own coverage without an employer plan behind them.

Small businesses

Owners who want solid health benefits for themselves and their team, with help handling enrollment.

Anyone overpaying

Individuals and families whose rates went up. I'll compare your current plan against what's available now.

Why it matters

Why health insurance is essential

The right plan protects your savings and makes it easier to get care when you need it.

Financial protection

Avoid surprise bills. An out-of-pocket maximum caps what you pay in a year for covered care.

Quality care access

See trusted doctors, specialists and hospitals in strong provider networks.

Preventive services

Most plans cover annual checkups, screenings and vaccines at no extra cost.

Prescription coverage

We check that your medications are on the plan's drug list before you enroll.

Family coverage

Cover your spouse and children on one plan, including pediatric dental and vision.

Help when you need it

Questions about a bill or a claim? You have a broker to call, not a phone tree.

About Vanam Health

An independent broker who works for you

I've helped more than 3,000 people find better coverage. I started Vanam Health because choosing health insurance shouldn't mean decoding fine print on your own.

Most of my clients are 1099 business owners and small businesses, but I help anyone who's paying too much. I'm not tied to a single insurance company. I listen to what matters most to you, whether that's keeping your doctor, covering a regular prescription or keeping premiums in check, then lay out your best options side by side and help you enroll. After that, I'm still your point of contact for claims questions, life changes and renewals.

Client reviews

What our clients say

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by the people I've helped.

“After my health insurance rates went up significantly, a coworker referred me to Steven. He took the time to explain my options, helped me find better coverage at a lower rate, and made the whole process easy. He really makes you feel like you're talking to a friend rather than an insurance broker.”
Vanam Health client
“Health insurance has always intimidated me, so I kept putting it off. I came in with a long list of questions, some of them pretty basic, and he never made me feel rushed or silly for asking. He explained how each plan would actually work for me, not just what it cost each month. I appreciated that he was honest about the pros and cons instead of pushing one option.”
Vanam Health client
“Steven made shopping for health insurance easy. He explained my options in plain English, made sure my doctors were covered, and saved me about $250 a month. If you need a health insurance broker, I'd call them first.”
Vanam Health client
“Steven was incredibly responsive and walked my partner and me through the different health plan options, which can be overwhelming. He was patient, highly knowledgeable, and explained everything in a way that felt human and easy to understand.”
Vanam Health client
“My husband and I needed someone who could explain healthcare from the ground up as we transitioned from parents' insurance, and he did just that. I especially appreciated his prompt communication and thorough explanations. He made it easy to understand our options, and did his research before setting up phone conferences.”
Vanam Health client
“I was looking for a plan that would take care of me and my family. Steven was very kind, extremely knowledgeable of the products and guided me in the right direction. He explained the benefits of each plan which made it easy to choose. Even to this day if I have a question he still responds.”

FAQ

Common questions

Don't see yours? Book a call and ask directly.

Does it cost anything to work with a broker?

No. Brokers are paid by the insurance company you choose. Premiums are generally the same whether you enroll through a broker or directly, so you get personal guidance at no extra cost.

Can I keep my current doctor?

Often, yes. Before recommending a plan, I check which plans include your doctors, specialists and preferred hospitals in their networks.

When can I sign up for coverage?

With a private PPO plan, you can sign up any time of year. There's no need to wait for Open Enrollment. Marketplace plans have an annual Open Enrollment period, and a qualifying life event like losing other coverage, moving, marriage or having a baby can open a Special Enrollment Period. I'll help you figure out which route fits you.

Do you work with small businesses?

Yes. I help employers compare group health plans and options like ICHRA, then support employees through enrollment.
